Questions I ask

If the client is having pain in an area of their body, I need to know whether this is chronic pain or the result of a recent incident. If the pain is chronic, how long has it been there? When did it start? When does it get more or less intense? What do they do to relieve it? What movement or activity makes it worse or better? Each of their answers guides my approach to their care. If the pain is new I need to know if it was an accident or the result of an intense activity like raking the leaves or moving boxes or too much tennis playing. If it’s an accident, I need to know how the accident happened. What happened to their body at the time of the accident and immediately afterwards. All these questions give me information that will guide how I work on their body.

So what are the tools I use and the methodologies that I use. My tools are my hands which I use not only to do the work but also to listen to your body. I sense contraction points in the muscles and fascia, I sense other parts that are connected to the point I am working on and I sense release of tension. The methodologies that I use are: therapeutic massage, craniosacral therapy, energywork, sound healing and intuitive guidance.

Through massage, I open and lengthen the muscles and fascia; Craniosacral therapy allows me to access the brain, the spinal cord, diaphragms within the body and the craniosacral fluid flow. This is helpful with systems that are tight overall, with headaches, migraines, and TMJ.

Energy work allows me release energy that is caught in tissue that is too deep in the body for me to touch with massage. I use this for joint pain, abdominal issues and meridian congestion.

Sound healing is used in conjunction with all the therapies above to add vibration which assists the tissue in moving as it needs to. There is a body wisdom that I work with instead of forcing my idea of how the body should heal on the process. Last I use what I call Intuitive guidance. This is an expansion of the listening skill that I talked about earlier. I use my ability to listen to the whole field of a client to assist them in working with issues that are more spiritual than physical.
