Becoming a Trim Tab: The Process
Our work together is guided by your needs, your goals and what’s getting in the way of you achieving those goals. When you’re pursuing coaching, you are not just feeling the lack of something, a discomfort or dissatisfaction. You are telling someone else what you want for YOUR life. You contract with your coach to keep you on track with your own goals. I remind you of your goals, your passions, and your dreams.
We start the process with a looking both forwards and backwards. Forwards: What do you want to be experiencing in your life? What are your passions, your truth? Backwards: What is getting in the way of you being a Trim Tab in life? How does your body and your soul talk to you? What are you experiencing in your emotional or spiritual lives?
At each session, we’ll always start by identifying your focus for the session, to make sure we’re covering the topics that are most important to you. Then we’ll dive into that topic, the teaching or the healing. I will use my intuitive and empathic skills to support you as a partner. I will listen closely to not only your words but also the energy behind them. I will respond to what I hear and feel is being expressed from both you, your body and your soul; and I will ask questions. From my experience as a healer and teacher, I will offer both discussion and skills that will support your movement toward your goals.
Homework is part of each session in that your experience with the homework will lay the foundation for our next step together. Individual coaching offers Support, Guidance, Accountability, and New skills for physical or spiritual growth.
The general steps follow; it’s customized as needed to you and your life goals.
Step 1. Passion Forward!
You will first identify what you want to have in your life…physical, spiritual, emotional, or mental. What passions do you want to express? What gifts do you want to develop?
Then you will do a comprehensive life checkup. What is your life experience now? How much do you live your passion or your truth? What does your body show you? Are their limitations, restrictions, pain? What is your community life like? Where are you on your spiritual journey? How does your heart lead your life?
In order to move forward, you need to know where you are NOW, where you want to be in the FUTURE in your life. Then you can create the plan to achieve your own Trim Tab state – focusing on what your passions, growing through your strengths and shrinking the obstacles to your growth.
Throughout this process, you’ll develop more practices and experiences that keep your passions and goals in the forefront of your mind.
Step 2. Release Your Negative Limiting Messages
Our lives are guided first by the self-authority of the young child. School, church, neighborhood and country require us to listen to the “other-authority” through the rest of our childhood and young adult years. Over the years, we discard some of these rules but some are buried so deeply that we don’t even know that they are there. Some of these messages told you that you “couldn’t or shouldn’t” or that it ‘wasn’t your role/ability/right.”
Those old messages need to be consciously discarded, and your own truth given back its full place in our lives. Your connection to the universe, to the earth and to yourself will provide what you need to move into that strong self-authority that you desire.
In this step, you’ll start identifying the strengths of your lineages, the messages of your past and a plan to live only those messages that support your life goals and passions.
Step 3. Define Your Unique Desired Trim Tab State
What’s unique about you? This is not the time to be shy!
- Your strengths, your gifts that you feel passionately about and want to share with world.
- Your philosophy about the how you engage in the world.
- From a perspective of others in your life, how is living/working/playing with you different from working/living/playing with anyone else?
Your passions, your gifts and purpose provide you with emotional energy to fuel your life journey. They are magnetic attractors to gather just the kind people around you that you desire: friends, colleagues, business, community.
This step creates the full picture of your end desired state. It also creates a prioritization of action and focus. What gift or passion will be focused on when. Integration of growth of all parts of you (body, mind, spirit, emotions) will be addressed in your plan as well as in the coaching that moves you forward into claiming your truth and living your passion.
Steps 4-9 rotate throughout the time that we work together. This a fluid process in which you experience and dance in and between multiple steps. Your focus will shift from physical to spiritual to mental to emotional as these areas need to be addressed.
Step 4. Meld into Faith and Surrender
Be persistent in daily asking for your desired outcome. Even when you are in despair, ask. Always ask for the positive state, NOT for the release of the negative. Focusing on the desired state helps you connect to those things that will help you actually achieve it. This is the step of faith and surrender. Faith is waiting for your question to be answered and not knowing how. Surrender is accepting that you do not know what the answer may be and that the answer will be just what you need.
Step 5. Embody trust and curiosity
Listen for the answer. The answer may come from something you read, someone you meet, a song that appears on the radio, a book that falls at your feet. It may come in meditation or in the words of a friend. It will not come boldly, it comes instead in softness…you so must listen for the quiet answer. This is the step of trust and curiosity. What could this song mean to my life now…why did I notice it? Why does that animal keep appearing in my world? What is the larger message here?
Step 6. Engage in Love and Support
Get support and gather resources to you. Tell a friend, family member or healer, that you trust, tell them what you desire. They will serve to believe in you when you cannot. They will hold you through despair, through trial and error. They will rejoice with you when you succeed. Look around for other resources that will nurture and nourish your body, your soul, your emotions and your mind. It could be a new healer, a class, a retreat, creating your own space. Feed your system and these resources will nurture and nourish you as you grow. This is the step of love and hope.
Step 7. Listen and Accept the Wisdom of Your Whole System
Pay attention to what is happening in the rest of your system (body, mind, spirit, heart). Your body may be telling you that it has an answer to your soul question. Your heart may know what your mind cannot comprehend. This is the step of wisdom and acceptance.
Step 8. Practice Courage
Take action. The god/goddess loves those who help themselves. You don’t know how that information, that insight, or that learning will help you if you don’t actually apply it to your daily life. The exercise plan not used; the book unread, the meditation not practiced, the emotions denied. None of these will shift your world if you don’t use them. This is the step of courage.
Step 9. Flow with Life. BE both Truth and Flexibility
Periodically take stock and adjust to new information/insights. The swiftness of change is upon us. What was true yesterday may not be so today. As you integrate your different parts of your being at deeper and deeper levels, your habits, your plans, and your responses in other areas will automatically need to shift. This is the step of flexibility and flow.
This is a new truth that we now recognize in the integration of Body/mind/heart/spirit. We cannot go any higher in our spiritual growth than the depth of our capability of grounding into the earth. And when we vibrate in our own truth, we can change the life experience of our peers and our children.
